Teaching Internship
University Canada West, Vancouver, British Columbia

I reflected on two of the thirty lessons I taught for the UAP Writing Course at the University Canada West. These lessons were "Proofreading and Editing" taught on the 16th of October 2023 and "Writing Research Questions" taught on the 15th of November 2023.

These lessons were analyzed for learners' prior knowledge and skills; connections to other course content; performed learner activities; teaching materials; lesson plan; and unique opportunities for knowing my learners.
Each of the two teaching cycles of my internship culminated in a conference with my mentor teacher Dr. Rozeta Biçaku-Çekrezi.

These mid-term and final conferences formally assessed my teaching domains - interpersonal relations, cultural/intercultural knowledge, language/linguistic knowledge, language acquisition and learning, language teaching skills, and digital and online technology use for teaching.

I analyzed two of the thirty lessons I taught for the UAP Writing Course at the University Canada West. These lessons were "The Active and Passive Voice" taught on the 30th of October 2023 and "Understanding Sentence Fragments" taught on the 27th of November 2023.

These lessons were evaluated based on teacher observations and analyses from those observations; an overview of lesson effectiveness; close-up perspectives of lesson effectiveness; and SLA interpretations and the insights gleaned from this.
Before my 30 hours of course instruction, I observed my mentor teacher for 10 hours of teaching. I evaluated her teaching practices based on the guided practice provided to students; the independent practice provided to students; the types of questions students ask; the setting description of the classroom; activities during the lesson; the teacher's non-verbal behavior; how the teacher gives instructions for activities; the teacher's correction of students' errors; the teacher's writing on the board; and the teacher's standing position in the classroom.
